Legal
Privacy policy
The short version: we store your email if you give it to us, we record what was in your bag, we do not take payment details, and you can have all of it deleted by asking.
Who we are
Ruck & Roe runs this website. If you want anything on this page acted on, write to hello@ruckandroe.com and a person will read it.
This is a draft policy for a pre-launch site. Please have it reviewed by a solicitor before the store trades commercially.
What we collect
There are only two things we store about you, and both are things you type in deliberately:
- Your email address, when you ask to join the waitlist. Alongside it we store which nation and size you were looking at and which part of the site you signed up from.
- The contents of your bag when you reach the checkout step, along with the country you selected and the email address in the contact field. This is how we work out which nations to make.
We do not ask for and never store payment card details. No payment is processed anywhere on this site.
We also count anonymous events — a product being viewed, a romper being added to a bag — with no identifier attached that could link them back to you.
Legal basis
Your email address is stored on the basis of your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw that consent at any time.
Anonymous product counts are kept on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing which items to produce.
Cookies and Meta advertising
This site keeps the contents of your bag in your browser's local storage so it survives a refresh. That is not a cookie and it never leaves your device.
If you arrived from an Instagram or Facebook advertisement, the Meta Pixel may be active. It reports back to Meta that a page was viewed, a romper was added to a bag, or a checkout was started, so we can tell whether the advertising is working. Meta acts as a separate controller for that data under its own terms.
You can block this with any standard tracker-blocking browser extension, or by using the ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account.
Who else sees it
Our hosting and database provider, which stores the data on our behalf inside the European Union. Meta, only if the pixel is active, and only for the events described above.
We do not sell, rent or share your email address with anyone else.
How long we keep it
Waitlist emails are kept until you ask us to remove them, or until twenty-four months after the last time we wrote to you, whichever comes first.
Checkout and product records are kept for twenty-four months and then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us holding it at all. Write to us and we will act within thirty days at the outside, and usually within a couple of days.
If you are unhappy with how we respond you can complain to your national data protection authority. In Ireland, that is the Data Protection Commission.
